We have created the first ever School of Muralism, where experienced artists share their skills, knowledge and experience to empower other artists to create captivating and inspiring public art.

The London School of Muralism teaches students how to bring art to the streets, by engaging others in their creative process. This helps their muralism practice to be financially sustainable while making meaningful contributions to society through transforming our shared spaces.

Artmongers has been painting murals in South London for over 20 years. During this epic mural-making journey, we have developed a unique process of engaging local community groups in our creative process.

Other artists began to gravitate towards what we were doing, and many reached out in search of advice or to volunteer with us. We noticed that passive advice was not effective enough to kickstart the projects of these potential new muralists. Much more support, guidance and education was needed if they were to become practising mural artists, and so the idea of the London School of Muralism emerged.

After a successful round of crowdfunding, we were able to set up the school. We ran three pilot courses through a period of eighteen months; delivering 36 scholarships, 33 new student-led murals and 6 new school-led murals. During this process, we engaged over 200 community participants across 96 sessions and delivered 288 hours of teaching!

Since then our course has been constantly evolving and growing. We now run a hybrid tuition fee model, where some students pay a part of the cost and we apply for funding to cover scholarships for people who cannot afford the course but would greatly benefit from it.
